Under 18's start theoir 2026-27 league campaing with a win on the road.
Llantwit Major Youth kicked off their 2026-27 league campaign in style, running in nine tries on a bright afternoon to secure a 61-17 win away at Canton. With little pre-season time in the legs, this was a highly encouraging opening performance from the Blood and Blacks, who grew into the contest and produced some eye-catching attacking rugby once they found their rhythm. Canton made the sharper start and dominated the early exchanges, using strong carries to put Llantwit under pressure and deservedly crossing first. The visitors struggled to settle and spent long spells pinned inside their own 22, but after 15 minutes they finally clicked into gear. A break from their own half and quick tempo opened the door for Aaron Moce to dart over from a quick tap penalty for Llantwit’s first try, and the momentum began to shift. With the attack looking livelier, flanker Zac Arthus then found space to help put the visitors 14-5 ahead. Canton pushed hard for a response before half-time, but Llantwit landed the classic sucker punch: breaking quickly from deep before pressure on the retreating defence resulted in a penalty try, sending the Blood and Blacks into the break 21-5 up. Llantwit raised the tempo after the restart and soon stretched their lead through tries from Dylan Barlow and Dylan Rees, moving 33-5 in front. From there, the visitors began to play with real width and confidence. Liam Davies added the sixth try before co-captain Harry Fisher struck twice in quick succession to take Llantwit out to 54-5 lead. To their credit, Canton kept battling and grabbed a second try, but Dylan Rees answered with his own second of the afternoon. Canton had the final word with a third try on the whistle, though the result was already well sealed as Llantwit finished 61-17 winners. It was a proper game of two halves for Llantwit: a slow start, a strong response and plenty to build on. Just as pleasing was seeing four players make their youth debuts for the Blood and Blacks, rounding off a positive opening day for the squad.

Volunteers for the 2026-27 rugby season
We are looking for c and beyond as we look forward to a busy future at the club. Whether you fancy getting to work on grass or in the club there are several important roles that we are looking to fill. Our junior section are looking for a new chair and secretary, along with other crucial roles such as a new volunteer coordinator and a fundraising/Grants manager. Whilst the roles will primarily based on the rugby side of business we are starting to look at new projects to help the club become an even bigger part of the community. We also have coaching roles available with our Under 18's and Under 8's and with a fully supportive WRU coach education programme available why not look to get involved.
